Biography
Alynn grew up as the youngest of three children to Neves and Lora Astor. She lived with her parents and her two older brothers Alder and Orthen. They weren't very well off, actually her parents were the very trusted, most senior staff of an elite family living in the Lake El-Nar area of Betazed. The children attended school, but were made to work for the family when school work was done. Alder and Orthen eventually left the area to attend school at the university. Once her brothers left Alynn was left to herself. Being a working class in an affluent area she had very few friends and those that she had were also working class, so therefore they didn't have the time to spend with her outside of school.
Alynn became a very shy young child. Her only friends most of the time were books, anything she could get her hands on she would read, be they holofiction, hard bound books...anything. Usually to the detriment of her studies and her duties. Once she was old enough her parents informed her that it was time for her to go to school at the university as well. She was told that the family they worked for would pay for her schooling only if she went into the medical field and remained away from Lake El-Nar area after she was done. Her parents told her that she had to accept or she would be sent to work for another family and would never have this opportunity again. So, she did. However this act by her parents only fueled her feelings of being not wanted and fed her shyness even more.
Her only fear, is large crowds, and she didn't find this out until she went to school. The thoughts and emotions of too many people assault her senses, causing headaches and sometimes even overwhelm her so much that she passes out. She was not taught how to suppress the thoughts of many, but is slowly working on it and is better at it than she was, but she still has issues at night when she sleeps. The dreams and nightmares of others come to her when she sleeps, making it difficult for her to sleep some nights.
In order to fulfill her obligation to study medicine Alynn went to the academy to complete her medical degree. She was a bit afraid of telling her parents of this decision, but knew she had to. They surprised her considerably by being proud of her and happy for her and are eager to see where her career takes her. Her brother Alder and Orthen are not happy with this decision at all and have basically cut off all communications with her, which breaks her heart. She has not been back to Betazed at all since her graduation.
She is currently working on her internship, under the tutelage of Dr. Rayburn on board the USS Astraeus and holds the rank of Ensign.
