2ND ROUND OF HEARINGS ON BEERAXI SECESSION SCHEDULED
The Galaxy Alliance Senate Committee of the Interior has scheduled the second day of hearings for Wednesday April 9th, 2403 in the Senate Chambers. The Senate has yet to publish its list of speakers, but it is assumed Ambassador Trasera and the Beeraxi Senator will be in attendance. Sources close to the Senate indicate that Starfleet has been invited to testify, but that logistical details have prevented them from formally being added to the schedule.
ELECTIONS CONTINUE TO STALL DUE TO LACK OF FUNDING
Alliance-wide elections that were to occur at the end of 2402 continue to be delayed due to funding problems among the smallest member worlds. Some of the largest worlds in the Alliance sent a letter criticizing Chancellor L'vralus' handling of the most recent election season, as we reach the fourth month without general elections occurring. Alliance-wide elections were placed on hold in November when many of the smallest worlds were unable to pay for the costs of implementing the elections. In addition to throwing the traditional political calendar off balance, it has sent tens of candidate to replace the Chancellor into limbo, even as the Chancellor himself has not filed papers to run for reelection. Chancellor spokesperson Keith Ferson downplayed L'vralus' lack of election filing by saying, "The people of the Alliance want leadership, not politics, and certainly not campaigning. As such, Doctor L'vralus is dedicating his time to making a difference, not paperwork that everyone knows is just a formality anyway. As to the delays, it would hardly be fair to hold elections that only the richest worlds could participate in. The Chancellor is looking forward to the democratic process continuing once the Senate has appropriated enough funds for ALL worlds to participate."
