Something to Consider (RP Log)

- Duty Office - Station Infirmary [Deep Space 9]
- The spacious office combines both functionality and elegance. An oak desk bearing an engraved caduceus, the emblem of Starfleet Medical, holds the desktop terminal. Two chairs, adjustable according to the body-type parameters of a number of different species, sit before it. The walls are lined with plates containing texts handwritten in a variety of calligraphic styles, while a modest bookshelf contains a number of medical texts, historical works and works of literature in several languages: Betazoid, Rihannsu and Trill in addition to those in Vulcan and Alliance Standard. A coffee maker sits off to one side of the office in a small seating area containing a loveseat, a chair and a low table.
Still in uniform despite the hour, Senka is sitting on his loveseat, a paperbound book in his hands.
Pryus-Talbot smiles faintly as she steps inside, "Good evening." She greets him softly, "Can I join you?" She has come straight from the gym so her hair is a little bedraggled.
Senka closes the book in his hands. "Certainly." He gestures to the armchair across from his loveseat.
Pryus-Talbot nods gently and settles herself down in the armchair, she crosses her legs. "Are you well? I believe the investigation is over, I apologise if you have a reprimand to face." She says quietly, looking at her hands as they fold in her lap. "Sorry I'm still feeling very guilty."
Senka nods. "I am well. I know of no charges or reprimands against me concerning that matter at this time."
Pryus-Talbot sighs with relief and her faint smile reappears, "I'm glad, with both aspects." She answers as her eyes move back to him, "Have you seen Alynn since?" She enquires.
"I have not seen the commodore in several days," Senka murmurs, gently correcting your use of the division chief's first name. "Upon what basis do you believe the inspector general's investigation to be near its end?"
"I have to see her for a reprimand of unethical medical practice." Kailyn answers calmly, she wasn't too keen on the idea of having to be disciplined by the woman she had scorned.
Senka steeples his fingers, considering that. "If the penalty phase of the investigation is now in effect, then logic does indeed suggest that the investigation is near conclusion."
Pryus-Talbot nods gently. "Yes, yes it does." She adds as she runs her hands over her face tiredly. "I'm not overly keen on facing her again."
"Considering the circumstances, that is understandable." Senka nods. "Nonetheless, she is not a vendictive or vicious person. She will undoubtedly make the encounter as brief and efficient as possible." You would understand by efficient that what Senka means is painless or quick.
Pryus-Talbot nods again, "I've already placed my intent to retire with BuPers." She explains, "I've been told that Duke Trex is looking forward to meeting me to discuss the prospect of work." She shrugs slightly, "It doesn't seem the same on the other side of things."
Senka steeples his fingers. "Indeed," he murmurs. After a beat, "There is an item I would like you to consider. You may think of it as a personal request."
Pryus-Talbot raises her brows slightly, "What is it?" She asks curiously.
Senka regards you over his steepled fingers. "I would like to see you remain in Starfleet and continue to serve in this infirmary alongside myself."
Pryus-Talbot lets her fingers brush her lips as she looks at him before moving them up to her temple, "That's a big request." She answers after a short pause, her tone is conflicted. "I can't work with a lot of these people Senka, I'm so angry and I don't have the discipline that is expected of me."
Senka regards you and explains his request. "You are a capable medical officer. You may not be allowed to continue as a counselor, if I were to guess, but you are still a capable doctor, and it has been an honor to serve with you." A pause for thought. "Your anger is something that you and I can deal with on an informal basis, but nonetheless it can be dealt with. And it should be worked through, not fled from if I may say that. As the chief medical officer, I will deal with the senior staff more than you will have to, and despite her presence on the station, there is no reason you should need to frequently interact with the chief of the medical division on an official basis. Again, being the CMO, that would fall to me." A pause for thought. "We have a new nurse working in the infirmary, and she would benefit in her training from your perspective as well as mine." A beat. "And I should like to continue to serve with a colleague and friend if you still call me so."
Pryus-Talbot considers his words, "What about Ava?" She asks, the bajoran woman made her angry most of all and if she was to be her Commanding officer after everything she had failed to do and failed to be brought to light. "The whole organisation is too militaristic, it shouldn't be like this any more." She explains.
"Colonel Ava is only temporarily in command of the station, at least until the final disposition of Captain Cross's case is determined." A beat. "In any case, there is no need for you to have any dealings with the station commander on any frequent basis. Her command of the station will not affect you or your duties." Senka meets your gaze. You sense that he thinks that Ava shouldn't be any particular hindrance to you in your job, and he really does want you to stay.
Pryus-Talbot's eyes close and she shakes her head gently, it was happening all over again. Someone trying to change her mind. "It took me a long time to come to this decision Senka and its is happening all over again like it did with Adam, he told me not to run. I am not running, I am moving on. I will return here as I am in a relationship with Giellun, I want to research and challenge things." She explains.
Senka nods. "Indeed." A beat. "I will, of course, respect your decision. However, I wished you to know that you would find yourself welcome if you chose to remain. Perhaps you might take more time to consider what I have said as this investigation closes. If it is still your decision to leave the service, I will wish you well in your work for the Kingdom of Eden."
Pryus-Talbot sighs softly and nods gently, "Thank you, I appreciate what you're saying and I will consider it and discuss it with Giellun." She smiles faintly.
Senka nods. "That is well."
