Starfleet officer suspected of treason released, resumes duty

BAJOR SECTOR (INW) -- The Starfleet officer detained on charges of treason is now back on duty, according to Starfleet Security.

Commander Kainon Essa, executive officer of USS Triton, had been placed into custody after a series of explosives were discovered aboard Deep Space 9 and various Starfleet vessels stationed in the Bajor sector.

Starfleet has released little new information on the investigation into possible terrorist activity in the area.

"We are continuing to investigate the situation and will not be issuing any further statements until the investigation is completed," said Rear Admiral Gregorio Giovanni, Chief of Starfleet Security.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
