Tavrok was born September 21, 2392 on Bajor in a well established Vulcan only enclave. One of two children in his family Tavrok is the oldest with a younger sister, Ta'pnil. His family maintains many of the rituals and ceremonies of the Vulcan culture. Including having bonded Tavrok with his intended wife, T'Pret, who he has not seen for almost 12 standard years. To the best of his knowledge the arrangement is still in effect, but the union is not something either family is pressuring for yet. Ta'pnil has already completed her union with her bonded mate and they are living together on Bajor. The child from that union is still really young, but will more than likely follow in much the same way his family has thus far.
Tavrok's parents prefer to keep other races at a distance, their illogical and often times, irrational behavior is unpredictable. For as long as he can recall Tavrok's father, Myrok, has been pursuing the completion of Kolinahr. Believing that achieving such control is paramount to a Vulcan's life has been much of the influence he has tried to pass to his son. To the dismay of Tavrok, this was not something for which he felt compelled to under go. Often times he would wonder about events in the news and how other beings reacted to the shifts in power throughout the Sector.
His curiosity can be attributed to his mother, Ta'Lan, who is an accomplished Scientist. His Mother saw the problems brewing in young Tavrok and made sure there were outlets to help him transition to the Vulcan lifestyle they'd planned for him. At age 8 he was assisting his mother with her work in her laboratory and conducting research for her in their library within the compounds of their home. That is the real spring board from which Tavrok draws his scientific understanding and ability. Through the pursuit of knowledge he was allowed to study just about anything that interested him while he was young. For the physical aspect of being young, his mother placed him in Suss Mahn studies to give him a basis in Martial Arts and philosophy.
At age 10, and in true keeping with Vulcan discipline. Tavrok was taken to a desert planet in a remote system to under go the Kahs-wan, the rite of passage where young Vulcan children are left to fend for themselves for a period of time. In this case Tavrok's parents set up a camp and instructed him to go at least two weeks (local time) before returning to camp. Surprisingly, Tavrok lasted for almost two full months and would have kept his parents waiting if his father had not stopped him. Because of Tavrok's raw physical strength he was able to defend himself against most predators with his bare hands. Training in science enabled him to fashion needed tools and various supplies as he went along. The experience was deeply emotional for Tavrok, and exposed him to portions of himself for which he was not prepared.
His father, having sensed his emotions ended the ritual and pulled Tavrok back to Bajor to begin his official education in Cthia or "reality-truth".
Shortly after turning 14 in 2406, Tavrok's mother died while on a research mission when her ship was attacked by pirates, and much of the dialogue between him and his father went with her. Their estranged relationship was always from opposite ends of the same extreme.
At 16 standard years of life pon farr hit and that was a major turning point in the tension between Tavrok and his father, using what he understood of the Kolinahr disciplines, his father was able to teach Tavrok techniques to deal with the onset of adulthood. Through that process the two of them finally developed a dynamic that was all there own.
Upon reaching age 20 he was accepted to the Vulcan Science Academy and he completed two separate degree programs. Over the course of four years (local time) he finished degrees in Astrometrics and Warp Field Theories. Immediately following completion his father wished for him to resume his studies at home involving Kolinahr, but Tavrok was much too curious.
In 2418 he applied and was accepted to join a Vulcan research team working with warp theories. His work there was more or less to get him off of Bajor and as soon as the opportunity presented itself he left the team and joined the science team on a privately owned station. Hoping from various science teams here and there throughout the sector in no random order. His work was elementary at best and seldom held his attention, his true passion became watching the various other aliens interact after leaving the initial Vulcan only research team. It was clear to Tavrok that having no real direction in which he was traveling, and no real structure could be a recipe for disaster.
In 2420, hoping to bring levity and balance back to his life, while still offering the chance to observe other cultures Tavrok applied to Starfleet Academy to become a Science Officer. Having no difficulties with his studies in his related fields, and no issue passing any physical exam. His time at the Academy was better spent on his hobby, observing the others around him and how they seemingly gave in to their lessor impulses. Now in the end of his Academy time Tavrok is looking forward to resuming scientific study somewhere out in the universe. His hobby was the only thing to keep him interested while in the beginning of his Cadet years. Hopefully once free of the Academy rules and guidelines he'll be able to better understand the intricate ways in which all the races appear to be interwoven.
