Ship's History

Commissioned on Stardate 74350, the Astraeus' life was relatively short lived. As the second ship off the line from Antares Shipyards of the Prometheus-class and the first active duty, fully crewed Prometheus-class vessel, she served as an active testbed of the new technologies in the field.

When the Borg returned on Stardate 74746.74, the Astraeus proved her mettle in combat, withstanding an attack of Borg drones during the Battle of Ferasa on Stardate 74829.69, thanks to her triply redundant systems.

Despite her prowess in combat, the Astraeus was not without its problems. Plagued by computer problems from practically the first day its crew took possession of it, the Astraeus was destroyed on Stardate 75864.35, when the main computer autonomously activated the self-destruct sequence.
