Nadia Vaziri was born an only child, February, 5, 2422 on Earth to her parents Abdul Vaziri and Emma Vaziri. Nadia was a zealous child, a trait that failed has failed to fade even in her early adult life. She was known as a trouble maker, often found pressing against boundaries of order.
During her school age years, Nadia was heavily involved in activities beyond the classroom. She subscribed to the jack of all trades and master of none mentality. In sports, she competed in hockey, ice skating, and tennis. At the table, she was fond of go, poker, and mahjong.
Nadia spent most of her childhood and adolescence in a rather uniform environment. Her mother laidstrict curfew, insisted on a well balanced diet, and prevented her from obtaining any form of work until after she was finished with her schooling.
A core part of her teachings at home revolved around how one should be self-reliant, because if oneis not able to help themselves, how could they begin to start to helping other people? Her parents believed in the well rounded individual, and taught her how to swim, explore, navigate, cook, judge hazardous terrain, and craft.
Her static habitat was not just limited to tight parenting. Her parents often went to great lengthsto shield her from races that may not have the same visage as a human. This eventually developed into a slight unease when around species such as Klingons and Cardassians.
Just after finishing her secondary education, war broke. Her father encouraged her into serving thealliance that had defended their family's livelihood. Ready to step forward and prove herself, she enrolled in the academy.
At first, she wanted to commit to training for security and tactical, but, a conversation with herfamily led her to believe that she would be more likely to die in hand to hand combat than if she held another shipboard duty. After reconsideration, she decided to learn how to fly vessels at helm and work within an operations department, positions her family assumed would keep her out of disruptor fire.
The academy had a way of knocking Vaziri around a bit. It was here that she would be forced tointegrate with a more diverse society. This challenge was exceptionally difficult at first, as she was having to work closely with beings that appeared a bit different. As the years progressed, she adapted. She found a way to hold back personal discomfort until the job was done.
The young woman had bouts where she lacked focus. That and a pension for being overconfident oftenled to pinches at the end of each semester. She pushed through her education, skimming the line between success and failure. Although she avoided reprimand, her track record was not nearly as gleaming as some of her colleagues.
Shortly after graduation from the academy her initial listing was delayed due to an issue with thedocumentation regarding the completion of her basic weapon skills course. At first, the young commission was a bit depressed by the stay, but was later pleased by the extra couple of weeks she was able to visit her family before being sent into space.
